Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 927: Shri Stotra priya (ōṃ stōtrapriyāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is fond of hymns in Her praise.

She likes the devotees praising Her during their worship. There are many who praise others to get what they want from others. To praise the divinities after understanding their glories is Niska Miya method of praising.

A child asking its mother specific thing is Kamiya prayer and there is no mistake in it. The Divine Mother is the Universal Mother for all. She provides the needs of all people. If a child disturbs its mother for something it wants, its mother is not too concerned. She considers that her happiness. By providing the child’s needs her love and affection increase. By praying and praising (Stotra) the Divine Mother, our affection to Her grows.

She likes praising about Her glories and kindness. All attributes cannot be understood and said by one’s mind. Yet those attributes which one’s minds can understand and express out become the Divine Mother’s Stotra. This is not saying non-existing things in Stotra to Her.

Six ways to praise the Divine Mother can be listed as:

1.     To mention Her glories as Namaskar am

2.     To praise Her

3.     To explain the tattvas of the Divine Mother

4.     To praise Her victories over Her enemies such as Bhandasura

5.     To praise Her wonderful forms.

6.     To praise Her and seek our needs from Her.

We have seen above six ways of praising in following earlier six Namas: 79, 448, 627, 658, 692 and 735. These one thousand names in this Sahasranamam are covered in these six ways of praising the Divine Mother. Those who recite this Sahasra Nama are pleasing the Divine Mother very much.

 

Stotra or praise is in six ways mentioned in another way are

1. Salutation and prostration (Namaskar).

2. Blessing the deity whose power may have dwindled as is

3. Praising the inner essence of the deity (Siddhant eka)

4. Praising the exploits of the deity (parikrama)

5. Praising the glories (Vibhuti)

and

6.pnaya (Prathama).

These ways of praising the Divine Mother were seen in following Namas 63, 79, 627, 658, 692, and 735 in this Sahasranamam.

Stotra also means Vedic mantra. The Divine Mother is especially pleased to hear the chanting of mantras from the Vedas, praising Her.


       The Divine Mother is fond of hymns in Her praise.
