Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 921: Shri Sadatusta (ōṃ sadātṣṭhāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is ever pleased. Sadatusta means "always satisfied" or "ever-content". It also refers to Vishnu.

She is always happy. All universal beings always are finding ways to meet their needs. Before one desire is met, another desire or requirement comes in for them. Humans always try to get their desires fulfilled; In most times, they land in sorrow and dissatisfaction. The Divine Mother is so widely spread over the universe, without any limit, being fully functionable as ever. There is nothing foreign to Her in this universe. She is fully satisfied.

In deep sleep, human mind and desires are subdued. The soul when merged with the Divine Mother or Brahman is in Paramananda stage. Both satisfied and unsatisfied conditions are the same in that state. If one’s desire fulfillment can bring that same Paramananda state when one is awake and functioning, he will understand the inner meaning of this Namam.

Those suffering and or without any material wealth, cannot achieve what they desire, even if they are happy. Those who having eternally happy can only have their desires met, is another interpretation of this Namam. Being ever happy, Sadatusta, the Divine Mother is providing to Her devotees the learning needed to be happy.

Happiness in fact is not happening externally to a human. Human’s mind gives happiness. Happiness is the true form of the soul. The Divine Mother, ever happy, is always the Atman or the Self. The Namam split as Sad + a + tusta, has the meaning that She is pleased with people having high moral values and standards or virtuous individuals.

The Divine Mother dwells happily in the company of virtuous individuals. Even wicked people turn virtuous in Her company. This makes it clear that the Divine mother is always in the company of good people.

The Divine Mother is ever pleased.
