Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 901: Shri Nada rupini (ōṃ nādarūpiṇyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is in primal sound; primal is relating to an early stage in evolutionary development.

Pranava or Omkara is in universal sound form. Sounds that our ears can hear are called Martha Pranava. And sounds beyond our ears are called Amartha Pranava. The manifested universe is due to Martha Pranava. The Brahman is far away and is not visible to us, we cannot reach through our words. For a tree, its seed is the cause. Likewise, for the universe, Natham or sound is the cause. Those that can be reached by the words and those that cannot be reached by the words are same in two parts. That part reachable by the words is called Natha Brahman, That means the Natham, or the sound is the seed, which brings out the universe to visibility. The universe consists of various parts of this Natham. They have a common name Pathartham which means it is patham (path or way) and its explanation. We get tree on the strength of the seed. Likewise, depending on the strength of the spoken word or sound every soul is created as human. Each soul is in Natha form. Soul or human if can recite any of the Divine Mother’s names, then its mind becomes calm. Such good path is available for human beings.

Natham and ohm Karam end with ohm, which is the basis of Natha sound. There are different types of Natha sound, that reaches our heart, that is sensed by Yogis, causing them to reach higher happiness state. The Divine Mother is understood by happy Natha form.

The Divine Mother is in the form of Nada Brahman, meaning Brahman is sound form. Natha is described in Svacchanda (expressing opinions and feelings openly) the Tantra based on Pranava, the syllable Oh. Natha is at the head of the Pranava.

The Anahata Chakra in our heart (through which Kundalini passes through from Muladhara to Sahasrara Chakra) is the position of Natha. Because of five senses of sound, touch, sight, taste and smell, Natha is considered as made of five Tutsis (form of elation or state of great joy.) They have five obstacles (Vighnas) also. Vighnas correspond to earthly wealth, its acquisition, guarding, spending, and losing. The devotee who over comes these obstacles gain elation and progresses in his Upasana of Natha Brahman. He will be able to realize the Divine Mother who is Nada Rupini.

The Divine Mother is in primal sound.
