Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 916: Shri Dhira (ōṃ dhīrāyai namaḥ

The Divine Mother is wise; She gives wisdom.

She is Dhira (wise, composed, or steadfast), the wisest and has excellent wisdom. There are two types of skills. Needle hole insertion wise ness and strong ness like Vajrayutham.

Those most knowledgeable people are like needle hole insertion wise people. These people cannot even pierce the paper. They have only book knowledge; They cannot bring their understanding to day-today life needs. They may claim knowledge, yet they cannot give other needs of life.

The Divine Mother’s skills are strong like Vajrayutham, which with its sharp edges can break a hardened wooden block. The Vajrayutham can be used all times, the Divine Mother’s expertise and strength are used always. Her devotees are wisest and experts like the Divine Mother Herself. They may be good sports men, yet they can share their knowledge quite easily with a child even. This is due to the devotion they have towards the Divine Mother and Her grace to them.

Those who can focus on things are like a Dhira or wiseman. The Divine Mother grants such wise ness to Her devotees as they desire. She is strong and skilled. She is the Dashami thiti Daily Devi Ira, who grants all these wisdom and strong skills to Her devotees.

Dhi is wisdom, knowledge of the Self; ra is one who possesses or one who gives.  Thus, the Divine Mother who gives the knowledge of the Self is Dhira. This Nama salutes the Divine Moter in the form of Ira, the Dashami thiti Devi.

“Only through the grace of the Divine Mother, one gets wisest (Dhira) and quality of non-duality.” Said Adi Shankara.

The Divine Mother is wisest; She gives wisdom.
