Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 63: Shri Kama Dayini (OM kAmadAyinyai namaH)

From Namam 52 to 63,we will be seeing the Divine Mother’s residence description.

The Divine Mother grants all wishes of the devotee.

The Divine Mother grants out to the devotee whatever they pray for and seek from Her. She also provides what the devotee need without his asking. There are four things: Kama, Tharma, Artha and Moksa which she provides to Her devotee.

She has the kind and beautiful eye sight. In gross form if the devotee desires and prays to reach her feet, She guides the devotee such that he or she will attain Her feet for getting Mukthi or Salvation (with no more birth and death cycle). In essence, the meaning of this namam can be understood as that She gives out to devotees whatever they wish from Her and more.

This namam can further be interpreted as She who brings good fortune (ayini) to Lord Siva (Kamada).

One other way to look at this namam is the one that She gives or generates the desire among the devotees to reach Her feet. Ego is needed for desire to arise. Is She Ahankara Rupini? The Divine Mother or the Maha -Tripura - Sundari sitting on the Pancha Brahma Asana as in SriCakaram is also known as Bhavani. She is ego filled for creating of the universe.

I pray to the Divine Mother to grant my wishes to eliminate my ignorance, to gain knowledge and to reach Her feet for my salvation.

Close enough meanings for:
Kama: desire
Dayini: one who bestows
Ayini: mother
Kamada: giving out what is wished, granting desire
Ahankara Rupini: Egoistic lady.
