Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 590: Shri Kataksha kinkari bhuta kamala koti sevita (ōṃ kaṭākṣakiṅkarībhūtakamalākōṭisēvitāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is attended by millions of Lakshmi Devis, who are instructed by the Divine Mother’s mere glances.

There are millions of Devis waiting to serve the Divine Mother on receiving Her instructions through Her eye.  The Divine Mother is not required to look and focus on any universal being. There are many millions of assistant devis waiting in sidelines to act on the command from the Divine Mother. Lord Shiva will not be required either to fully utilize His skills even during crisis. When Akasaganga, who came to test Lord Shiva, could not cope with Lord Shiva’s speed of doing things, she disappeared within Lord Shiva’s hair. Lord Shiva has used, through the Divine Mother, a very small portion of His strengths in creating this universe. In similar way, the Divine Mother in Akilaandeswari form through Her eyes glances rules the whole universe. (Please see earlier Nanam 281 Unmesaniisotpannavipannabhuvanavalih)

Anyone who has receives the Divine Mother’s glance of grace will be served by countless Goddesses of wealth.

The Divine Mother is served by millions of Lakshmi Devis.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 589: Shri Kama kotika (ōṃ kāmakōṭikāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother of whom Kama (Lord Shiva) is a part in Kailasa in their unison.

Lord Shiva is fond of the Divine Mother. Heat cannot be separated from fire. Likewise, Shakti cannot be separated from Lord Shiva Shakti-Shiva and Brahman are all mean the same. In Para-Shakti’s and Lord Shiva’s forms, the Divine Mother is the one acting is the learning from this Namam “Kamakotika”.

Kama refers to Lord Shiva as Kamesawaran. The Divine Mother is half with Lord Shiva in Ardhanariswara. In unison both Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother are one and the same. She resides in Kamakoti Peetam. Kamam is the third Purushasartha’s limit and She is in there as in Brahman.

Shiva’s nature encompasses only a part of the Divine Mother. As said before, Lord Shiva is Ardhanariswara (half male, half female God). This Namam is meant to indicate that the Divine Mother’s immeasurable greatness. Any Kama or anything desired is only a small part of the Divine Mother.

The Divine Mother and Lord Shiva in their Unison.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 588: Shri Trikuta (ōṃ trikūṭāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is in three parts.

The Divine Mother is in three kutas or in three parts. The number three gains importance in Hindu ancient way of doing. Brahma. Vishna and Rudra have Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas, namely three gunas; past, present, and future are time in three dimensions. Three lines are needed to hold something in place. Earth upper worlds and worlds below are three. Mind, speech, and body are three things the human handles. There are three parts of fifteen syllable Panchadasaksari mantra; waking, dreaming and deep sleep; heaven (Svarga), earth and the lower world (patala); Rg, Yajur and Sama Vedas. The creation, sustaining and dissolution are three Devas namely Brahma, Vishnau and Rudra are doing; Iccha, Jnana and Kriya Shaktis are three. It is implied that the Divine Mother is in all these and each of them.

The living beings can be separated as Devas, Naras and Asuras; universe, manifested Brahman and unmanifested Brahman are three places for the soul. Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother in unison are the same. The Divine Mother is in all these three forms, and She is praised as Trikuta.

Pancadasaksari mantra is divided into three kutas or parts (Earlier Nama discussions on 85 to,87) Trikuta is understood as representing many three forms of things we have discussed in erlier paras. The Divine Mother is in all three forms in every combination mentioned above. She is called Trikuta.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 587: Shri Sri sodasaksari vidya (ōṃ śrīṣōḍaśākṣarīvidyāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is in the form of sixteen-syllable (pancadasaksari (fifteen-syllable plus Sri added making it to sixteen-syllable mantra)).

All bija syllables are staying with the Divine Mother as Her garland. Sound based letters do not get destroyed; they stay as Naadabrahmam. Each syllable spells out the Divine Mother’s glories. There are many sixteen-syllable based Namams for the Shri Lalitha Devi. When we analyze it, they indicate the ultimate Brahma study.

Each devotee of the Divine Mother, depending upon his maturity level gets the Sodasaksari (sixteen-syllable) mantra for his level of understanding and use. So. depending on the soul’s level, the Pancadasaksari mantra stays in his heart; those who recite continuously get the blessings of the Divine Mother.

There is a twenty-eight syllables mantra called Para Sodasakshari. This mantra is as follows: Shreem, Sowhu, Kleem, Aym, Hreem, Shreem, Hreem, Om, Pancadasaksari, Hreem, Shreem, Aym, Kleem, Sowhu. The Pancadasaksari is in three Kutams as we have seen before (See table below). Along with the thirteen- bija asharams these three Kutams are counted as three Ashrams in Para Sodasakshari.

Atmavidya, Mahavidya, Srividya and Sodasaksari vidya are four Namams which teach us the karma path. Brahman is the universal concept Visuvarupa vidya mantra teaching in Srividya and teaching about Brahmam which is called Brahmavidya. These four Namas ultimately are part of the Divine Mother.

A mantra does not become potent merely from all syllables arranged in it. The sattvic purity and sincerity of the person giving it and using it are very important. That is why it is prescribed that one should be inducted identified into a mantra only by a master who has attained mantrasiddhi, that is the one who has realized the efficacy of the mantra by long practice.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 586: Shri Kama sevita (ōṃ kamasēvitāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is worshipped by Kamadeva, the god of love.

For male and female acceptance for love is kamam. Such feeling is also coming from the Divine Mother. In Paraavritti way of worship, Kama offering (sexual union) is considered essential. But in Nivritti way of worship, Kama is considered as an opposing factor. For the devotees, such differences are common. (Kamadeva has other names such as Manmadha, Ananga (the one without a body) and Kandarpa).

Saint Arunagirinathar suddenly got divine intervention. He converted his Kamam into divine retaliation. In one birth from a much lower level, he improved to the highest level of Brahman. So, the people under the influence of Kamadevan, can become the Divine Mother’s devotee is the interpretation of this Namam.

The Divine Mother is worshipped by Mamatha or Kamadeva as we have seen above. Kameswara (Lord Shiva) who blessed Kaman or Mamatha is also called Kama. The Divine Mother is worshipped by Kama and Kameswara.

The Divine Mother is worshipped for fulfillment of desires or worshipped according to desire. The Puranas say that Kama, the god of love, worshipped the Divine Mother with Srividya mantra.

Kama is the son of Lakshmi Devi and is celebrated as Ananga, the one without a body. Even though he has no arms, he worships the Divine Mother with joined palms; even though he has no neck, he wears the diamond necklace that is Srividya; even though without any sensing organs, he enjoys all the senses, the Divine Mother is attended by that Kama.

Kama, the desire, is the son of Goddess of wealth. The more wealth there is, the greater the desire. Freedom from desires is real Liberation, the real mental peace. Kama is also Mahakamessa, Lord Shiva; the Divine Mother is worshipped by Mahakamesa as well.

Lakshmi Devi is the mother of Kama deva,

                              who worshipped  the Divine Mother.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 585: Shri Sri vidya (ōṃ śrīvidyāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is sacred knowledge. The 15 syllables Panchadasakshri mantra is known as Srividya; it is superior to all other mantras.

The Divine Mother is in Srividya rupam; Sri means immense beauty. Wherever there is beauty, the Divine Mother’s presence is felt. Wherever there are divinity aspects or the Divine Mother’s presence, internal bliss is present. What we cannot see, but the glories of the Divine Mother are spreading in this universe. The Divine Mother does not even measure them, who else can measure such glories of Her’s?

There are four sections of Srividya as described below.

1.       One of them is yagnavidya; this considers all universal things and karmas as forms of the Divine Mother.

2.       To be devotional to the Divine Mother is Mahavidya; Her blessings and glories are present in everything. The devotees both male and female have their way of devotion to the Divine Mother.

3.       The third type is based on sound coming from the Divine Mother. She is in this mantra japam form, like Gayatri mantra. Divine words were got by yogins. Depending upon one’s level of devotion to the Divine Mother, one gets the light and blessing from the Divine Mother.

4.       Due to jnana, learning all universal aspects and reaching the Ultimate Brahman is the final Liberation. For all souls, the Brahman is the originating point. A very small portion of it had been taken to form the universe and souls. This is called the Brahmavidya, which has been explained in many ways. Brahman and the Divine Mother are one and the same.

The Vishnu Purana says that the vidya (knowledge) is a form of the Divine Mother. “O Devi, Thou art the science of sacrifices, the secret knowledge of the Self, which gives Liberation, in addition, Thou are the science of trade and justice.” All these forms of knowledge lead to Srividya”.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 584: Shri Maha vidya (ōṃ mahāvidyāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is the seat of exalted Knowledge which is Knowledge of the Self.

The Divine mother is the Ultimate Knowledge of all the knowledge. There is nothing more than Brahma vidya to learn. The soul’s goal is to merge with the Brahman. Once in Brahman, there are no more dualities of happiness or sadness, gain or loss, victory or defeat for that soul. It becomes “controlled by prayers to the Divine Mother and “Lord Shiva in their unison. For yogins even such prayers are immaterial. For the souls there is no more birth or death, having merged in Brahman. Such condition is beyond time, place and other attributes, which is same as the Divine Mother’s own form. So, She is praised as Mahavidya.

She is in mantara rupam “Mahavidya” ‘’ Iym, Hreem,Klem Cha-mun-da-yai Vich-che” is the Mahavidya manta, which is the Divine Mother’s Durga  form. This is also called the Navakshari mantra. This mantra provides relief from all difficulties in life.

Mahavidya Devi as the Divine Mother.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 583: Shri Atma vidya (ōṃ ōṃ ātmavidyāyai namaḥ)

The Goddess Divine Mother is the Knowledge of Self. She is the one who blesses devotees with Knowledge of the Self.

The Divine Mother is in the form of Self Knowledge. Sarasvathi Devi, the Goddess of learning and sixty-four arts (Kalas, also known as Aparavidya) is still in learning mode, due to which knowledge keeps on increasing. She is said to have come out from Vedas. For those who cannot learn, the knowledge is hidden. For those who can learn, their sphere of knowledge keeps growing. What one has learned is much smaller than a grain of sand, but what he must learn is bigger than the world at large.  What is learned is skill or knowledge. When we analyze anyone art, many subbranches from that art are generated.

Depending upon the skills level, this knowledge grows. For the surprise and suffering due to the learning of such knowledge and skills will be there for those learning them.  Those who have not learnt do not see that as a defect or weakness. Alternatively, if we point out the weakness in a learned person and say to him that he is fool, he will feel the sorrow very much. Due to education, knowledge grows. He may think about his body defect and feel sorry for it.

A learned man once said that the people without education and knowledge are good people. In ancient days, the yogins were trying to find out what aspect of learning helps to overcome the death. They studied the human body structures. It is not just accepting the food for processing. Even the small creatures do not want to die. So through the body, one cannot get deathless status. So the yogins, searched the mind which causes the thinking, feeling and commonsense. The feeling can be love or hatred, good or bad judgment demises in golden age. The mind is not stable.

For creation and destruction, the five senses are responsible. Humans reduce their desires and start looking inward. So, for him, the body, mind and five sensory objects are not his true self is becoming clearer. He starts understanding that Brahmam is where he belongs. So the soul is not destroyable but as the body is. For jana and ajanam, the soul or the Atma gives the jana light. For a soul happiness and sorrow are not affecting it. To understand this, the grace of the Divine Mother is needed, and She is in such a great Self Knowledge form to bless Her devotees.

To understand the attributes of materials is through knowledge, which is also called Vidya. To understand the Self, knowledge is through Atmavidya (which is also known as Paravidya). The Goddess, the Divine Mother is in mantra form.

There is a mantra known as, “Atmasakshatkra mantra” which is also called Atmavidya, which helps in providing Self Knowledge. The Divine Mother is the form of that Mantra.

Sarasvati Devi, the Goddess of Learning and arts represents the Divine Mother

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 582: Shri Maha samrajya salini (ōṃ mahāsāmrājyaśālinyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother controls the great empire of three worlds in this Universe.

The Divine Mother is the Empresses of the praiseable great empire. All the small kingdoms under one larger King or Emperor are called Mahasamrajya or great empire.  All billions of universal beings are created and ruled by the Divine Mother. She takes care of them for their comfortable levels and for Her as well. Those who understand Her, worship Her and become Her favourite citizens of Her empire. Her devotees both male and female are all becoming Her fvaourite Baktas. For them to think about the best rulings of the Divine Mother is a form of worship to Her.

As we have seen, the Divine Mother is the Empress of the great empire of the universe which She created. The king who rules a group of small kingdoms is called Samrat. If one rules many such Samrats, then he becomes the Mahasamrat.  His strength, ruling capability and the area, his rules is called Maha Samrajam. The Divine Mother is holding such a big Mahasamrajam of the universe under Her command. She is the Empress. Lord Eswaran (Shiva) is the Emperor of this Mahasamrajam, who is assisting the Divine Mother in ruling the Universal Mahasamrajam.

This great empire may mean “Maha kailasa.” This namam can be interpreted as “She who sports in Mahakailasa in complete freedom.”

Mahakailasa is the base of the Divine Mother’s Mahasamrajam.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 581: Shri Daya Murtihi (ōṃ dayāmūrtyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is the personification of Compassion.

The Divine Mother has all the motherly love. Those who assist the universal beings to grow are called Daya murtis and those who oppose the universal beings’ growth are termed as evil murtis. In the universal nature, there are many areas helping the growth of universal beings and there are many others blocking the growth. Whatever body any soul takes, it is for attaining or achievement enlightenment. All beings have various means of safeguarding themselves. All such safeguards come from the Divine Mother. The Divine Mother is the kind and generous compassionate mother providing for all beings in this universe.

The Divine Mother is worthy of respect, adoration, and veneration.

The Divine Mother is praised by all. In general, there are people who praise and some disgrace the Almighty or God. When we study further, we will realize that there is no one disagreeing with the God. In various stages the souls with the level of knowledge they have things for them to praise. The Divine Mother is in all those forms in the universe is the truth. All universal beings either directly or indirectly are praising the Divine Mother, since there is no other thing opposing the Divine Mother.

The Divine Mother is praiseworthy In celebrations and other important events, we always seek Her blessings. She is ever auspicious, Sarvamangala.

Mahila is another word meaning adorable. Women are traditionally referred to by this word in India; it shows the stature women enjoyed in olden days. It is the result of that tradition that the most adorable status is accorded to the Divine Mother.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 578: Shri Maha kailasa nilaya (ōṃ mahākailāsanilayāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother resides in the greater Kailasa; Mahakailasa means, The abode of Lord Shiva beyond the Kailasa Mountain.”

Eternally through unison, She, is sharing with Lord Shiva as Arthanareswar. Kailasa is the abode for both. To graduate the souls to higher level, which had originally come out from Brahmam, through five elements (Sun, wind, Fire, Water and Earth), She descends to this universe, which is an important form of Her. Brahmam is Her Ultimate abode where She is with Lord Shiva.

Thousand petaled lotus, Shasarara cakra is called Mahakailasa. The first chakra Muladhara has the soul as Kundalini. Due to meditations Kundalini moves from Muladhara through Svadisthana, Manipuraka, Anahata, Vishudhi and Ajna cakras to reach Sahasarara; there She joins with Lord Shiva. Since Sahasarara is Her permanent place with Lord Shiva, which is known as Mahakailasa; She is called “Mahakailasanilaya.”

In earlier Namam we saw that if we meditate using bija syllables or letters, it is called the Kailasa prastara Srichakra where the Divine Mother resides. There in unison, She, lives as Shiva-Shakti. In the human body above six cakras, Sahasarara is located; it is also called Mahakailasa where the Divine Mother resides.

Kailasa is also referred to as Sahasarara as we saw earlier, in Brahmarandhra. The Divine Mother resides there. The Tripurasara describes Sahasrara thus: “This is known as Kailasa, the seat of Akula where the Lord Shiva resides also in the bindu. The six chakras from Muladhara to Anja are called Kula and the Sahasarara above them is called Akula.

Mahakailasa is Kailasaprastara meditation referred above. The speciality of Mahakailasa is that Vasini and the other daily deities have no place there. They are confined to Bhu and Meruprastaras. The last statement takes on greater meaning, revealing that the Muladhara is the bhu tattva (bhu is earth) and the backbone is known as Merudanda.
