Astrology: Planet Saturn's generosity

Incident 1

I have come across many instances of Sani's generous giving of monetary benefits without causing more harm to the people.

For example one case history I had come across was as follows: One of the famous Nagarathar families owned about 3000 acres of palm and rubber plantation estate in southern part of Malaysia near Muar. One of the major partners was running the Sani desa; the owners  pushed for the sale which was brokered by a equally famous lawyer in Malacca at RM 9500 per acre. The sale was completed and the family received the full funds within  four months. Believe it or not, due to poor economic conditions the land prices fell and the same estate land was going for only about RM 5000 per acre after six months from 9500. The Sani desa for the major partner had ensured the price at RM 9500 before dropping by half to about RM 5000. So the Sani can help, really help; when he gives no other planet can match his generosity even by the venus desa.

So no need to always worry much about sani and its seven and half years, eighth house and  four house transits, if one follows his dharma honestly without any illegal activities.

Even when someone goes through seven and half sani effect, last two and half years are there for the sani to find ways to reward the prospect for the hardship it might have caused during the last five years to him. Sani does reward fairly and justly for the humans for their relative actions.

Incident 2

There is a principle of going through the pain by oneself to avoid major problem issues, like fasting etc. I have been told of this instance some 30 plus years back when I was deeply involved in learning astrology.

The time period was, say in mid 1940s, before the British left India. In Kumbakonam police station an Iyengar station inspector was there, who knew the effects of astrology. On one occasion, he took out the hand club and started wearing it for the whole day in his own hand. When his subordinate staff asked him,  he explained that he was having a bad patch in his astro chart, if did not do through this punishment himself, he could be arrested and put behind bars for long time period. The issue of  taking pain on oneself is evident here.

In similar way, if any one is gong through Sani related time periods such as seven and half years, eighth house and fourth house transits, the person can go through what I have been calling "The Saturday morning fasting for the whole period involved";  he can have the liquid diet such juice , hot drinks etc in the morning ; at noon time pray to Lord Mahavishnu/ Perumal and have his normal lunch. This is only morning fasting on Saturday.

The benefits are: 1) satisfying Sani's punishment oneself before facing a major difficulty from Sani. 2) Since one is doing it on Saturday, the day for Mahavishnu, his spouse Mahalakshmi is pleased and She blesses the person with abundant wealth etc, this person will not face any shortage of money issues. I have seen this with a nagarathar/chettiar in Kalang(Malaysia) in early 1980s, he used to sell Malaysian Lottery ticket  and the end of the month when some tickets had not been sold and left out with him. Believe me, he used to strike large prizes in the left out tickets with him. I understood all these due to Mahalakshmi's blessings to him for his Saturday morning fastings which he was doing all through his life.

This is only sharing my experience with sani's generosity nature. You may take it as a suggestion; it is up to you.

Good luck..C N Nachiappun..Singapore..31.10.2020

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 295: Shri Ambika (OM ambikAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is the mother of the universe.

Ambika means mother. The Divine mother is caring for all universal creatures with Her motherly affection and love. The souls are at various levels; She is caring for each of them based on their needs. The devotee starts to understand the Divine Mother’s motherly love and kindness. Sri Ramakrishna Pramahansar is the best example. He was always thinking about Her. He was cared by Her. She gave the jnana to him. Likewise, the Divine Mother cares for each and every universal creature. So She is called the universal mother, Ambika.

Ambika is the great mother;  She hass Iccha, jnana and kriya saktis within Her.

Ambika is also night. Like our own biological mother, the Divine Mother compulsorily provides rest and peace to evry universal crature. The Divine Mother is worshipped as Ratri Devi also.

Ambika is sleep. Devi Mahtmikam 5-25 records, “Ya Devi sarva bhooteshu nidra roopena samsthita namasthasyai, namasthasyai namasthasyai namo naha.” This is emphasizing the need to worship the Ratri Devi and to have enough sleep for the universal creatures. In human life, half of our time is spent in sleep, with ignorance as Maya is controlling us.

Ambika also means Sarasvathi, the earth and the embodiment of Saktis Iccha, jnana and kriya (the power of will, knowledge and action). Namam 658: Iccha sakti, jnana sakti kriya sakti svarupini with the meaning that She is in the form of the powers of will, knowledge and action. We will discuss in details as we reach Namam 658.

Maya (illusion) also has the synonyms or meaning as ratri (night) and nidra (sleep). The Gita 11-69 says, ‘what is night to all beings, in that self-controlled man keeps awake, where all beings are awake, that is night for the sage who sees.”Clearly that night is the darkness created by Maya, and the self-controlled man is awake when others are enveloped by the dark of ignorance. Thus the sleep and night imply the nature of Maya. Ambika is thus the embodiment of Maya. “Night represents the great Devi and day represents the Lord Shiva” according to Sastras.

The Divine Mother’s speed of doing things is the best. No one can stand against Her speed. Harivamsam says only Narayana, a version of Mahvishnu can stand against Her speed. Devi Bhagavatam says that Nidra Devi has absorbed Vishnu and Hayagreeva, so they can stand the Divine Mother’s speed of doing things.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 294: Shri Bhuvanesvari (OM bhuvaneshvaryai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is the ruler of the universe.

The Divine Mother is the protector of all fourteen worlds (Bhuvana). They are namely: earth, six above earth and seven below earth. The Divine Mother is ruling and controlling all these fourteen worlds. In Namam 281, we saw that the Divine Mother creates and dissolves very many galaxies and worlds as part of this universe with opening and closing of eyelids. This universe such a huge form, even the present day scientists are slowly beginning to understand the vastness and components of the universe now; the ancient Hindu sages had understood this universal vastness very many years ago.

In mantrasastra, Bhuvanesvari, forms the bija (seed) ‘Hrim”. This bija contains all the fourteen worlds in this universe; worshipping Bhuvanesvari through this bija mantra is worshipping the Divine Mother directly.

The Divine Mother is the leader of Bhuvanas. Waking, dreaming and deep sleeping are the three sufferings for the mankind; they are the Bhuvanas for the soul. The Divine Mother is ruling in all three stages of for the embodied souls.

For example, a person steps into a house; there are nobody inside; but the kitchen cooking fire is on; there is light burning in puja room; there is a garland over a deity. From these, he is able to guess that someone is living in the house. In a similar way, this universe is functioning systematically. Each human gets reward based on his karma. The Divine Mother is running and ruling the universe without any variation.

Bhuvana is also water. So the Divine Mother is the protector of land and the oceans.

Tripurasiddhanata recounts how the Divine Mother gave the blessings to a guru known as Bhuvananandanatha; due to that She came to be known and called as Bhuvanesvari.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 293: Shri Bhogini (OM bhoginyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is the enjoyer.

Bhogam is the way to use one’s sensory organs to enjoy. Bhogam is essentially sensory experience and enjoyment. All universal creatures of different maturity have such enjoyments. It is the Divine Mother’s grace to grant such enjoyments to all universal creatures. Bhoga is basically the short term enjoyment leading to sorrow in the long run. By indulging in Bhoga, the souls prolong their Samsara Sagara cycle. The one who is seeking the Brahman should consider the Divine Mother as yogini. It is said that sage Sri Ramakrishna Pramahamsa followed this approach to worship the Divine Mother.

The Divine Mother enjoys in all universal life forms, everything that is to be enjoyed. She consumes (bhuj) everything in the universe; She is bhogini in that sense.

Bhoga also means the hood of a serpent; it goes to mean, that She has taken the serpent maiden form. Such female serpent is representing the Kundalini the embodied souls in human bodies.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 292: Shri Purna (OM pUrNAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is always or eternally whole without any decay or growth.

She has the bright fullness and greatness in Herself. When one analyses the nature, he can understand Her fullness. The Divine Mother is not time and place based; Universal events are time based. If the devotee uses his time fully in dharma ways, he can start to praise the Purna state in the Divine Mother. This fullness in the whole universe is present in micro level atoms also. All the universal things have this fullness in the form of the Divine Mother. She is both the cause and effect. Her universal actions are telling us that the Divine Mother is always in Her wholesome. If the devotee is thinking always about the Divine Mother, he gets the full wholeness in himself to praise and worship the wholesome the Divine Mother always.

In all her forms and everywhere in the universe, the Divine Mother is always full. If something is there in one place and missing in another place and also as different things at different places, it cannot be whole or purna. Whatever much, the Divine Mother gives out, She does not decay Herself or reduce from Her infinite holdings. This is the clear evidence that She is Purna.

The Sruti says, “Purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnamudacyate; purnasya purmanadaya purnamev avasishyate.” The meaning of this statement is, “The Whole is all That. The Whole is all This. The Whole was born of the Whole. Taking the Whole from the Whole. What remains is the Whole.” The Divine Mother infiniteness is reflected in above Sruti sayings.

The wholeness or the completeness of the divine power is evident to us in the nature. A child born of its mother is whole in itself; the seedling sprouting from the seed grows to the fullness contained in the seed and gives rise to countless new whole seeds; the calf grows to be a whole as the cow, yet it does not make the other less than the whole. This is the condition of things in this physical world. Parasakti or the Divine Mother is creating and maintaining the universe, what else can be said about Her wholeness? The cause is whole, it is Her; the universe, the effect born of the cause is also whole. Here the cause and effect are both same, according to the sages.

Lord Krishna in Gita says that the sattvic, rajasic and tamasic natures of the divine forces are reflected in creation, preservation and dissolution of the universe, which is happening at the Divine Mother’s instruction; all embodied souls form part of the wholeness to the universe and Her.

Purna is the deity of the fifth, tenth and fifteenth days of lunar half month. The deity for the fourteenth night of the bright half of lunar month is also Purna. All these deities are the forms of the Divine Mother. Further Purna is also the name of a river which again is another form of the Divine Mother.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 291: Shri Purushartha prada (OM puruShArthapradAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother grants the four-fold objects in humans. The four objects are namely: Dharma (morality), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire) and Moksa (liberation).

The embodied soul’s movements upwards or downwards are based on its karma. Dharma way should be used by the humans to earn their living; dharma way will give him enough wealth for his life needs. Happiness can only be enjoyed based on his dharma. Moksa is liberation from Samsara Sagara. After going through many births and having sensory enjoyments, the souls seek the Brahman. This is where the Divine Mother’s grace to the devotee comes in. So for the benefit of mankind, the Divine Mother grants four objects in their life.

The Purusha is the one who understands the things he wants and seeks them with determination. Basically the Purusha seeks the four objects where the Divine Mother’s help comes in. The Divine Mother is happy to give the four objects to the person who follows the teachings of Vedas and Tattvas to reach Her. In other words, the Divine Mother gives these four objects to a person who controls his mind, thinking, sensory organs and body.

According to Brahamanda  Purana, “Those who worship the Supreme Sakti, whether  or not following the rules, are not in Samsara Sagara; they are liberated souls, no doubt.” Worshipping the Divine Mother’s feet means the liberation from Samsara Sagara for prosperity and for peace in this worldly life. Dharma way of life for the humans gives the Artha or enough wealth for ones lively needs; this will lead to meeting his desires in life. Only on attaining these three things, can the embodied soul inside the human bodies seek Moksa to get liberated from Samsara cycle.

This Namam can be interpreted as follows also: Purusha is Shiva; Artha is wealth. The Divine Mother is the one giving this wealth to Lord Shiva also, to be passed on to His devotees. Further Sage Adi Shankara says in Soundarya Lahari in very first verse that Shiva only is able to move because of his association with Sakti. “When Shiva joins You, O Sakti, He is able to engage in His cosmic tasks; otherwise He cannot even move about”. In this way, the Divine Mother is liberating Lord Shiva also from a lifeless state.

(OM sakalAgamasandohashuktisampuTamauktikAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is like a pearl enclosed in the shell made of all the Vedas and or scriptures. The meaning of this statement is that if all the scriptures collectively form a shell, the Divine Mother is inside similar to a pearl. The size of the shell gives an idea of the size of the pearl inside but not the quality and greatness of the pearl inside.

The Divine Mother’s ornaments are all the Vedas like a pearl inside the shell. This means that Vedas are like ornaments for Her. It is not enough to say that Vedas are the Divine Mother’s ornaments. Further, the Vedas cannot fully explain the Divine Mother’s true self. The Vedas only act to motivate the soul to seek the Brahman.

The Vedas give the form of the Divine Mother but not Her completeness or true-self. Katha Upanisad (1.ii.23) says, “The Atman cannot be attained with the study of the Vedas, nor by intelligence nor by hearing”. Then how to reach the Atman? When the Atman chooses a devotee to help him to attain the Brahman, its real nature is revealed to that devotee only. This Upanisdic saying reveals the appropriate meaning of this Namam. As the Divine Mother says, “Looking for truth outside is like drying up the ocean to catch the fish. One should look deep within. Only then, the truth about the Divine Mother will be revealed to him”.

The tattvas which have come from Lord Shiva’s face are equally good as Vedas in describing the glory of the Divine Mother. Like Vedas, tattvas also are not able to describe the Divine Mother fully. They indicate that She is like a pearl in a shell. To get the pearl from the sea, one has to dive deep inside the sea and bring out the shell containing the pearl. Likewise the devotee has to dig deeper in Vedas and tattvas to understand the Divine Mother more. It is not enough to bring the shell with the pearl from the sea. One should know as to how to value the pearl. The Divine Mother is far greater than anything else in this universe.

The shell with the pearl is in the sea bed for long, long time; the pearl grows and gets polished inside to reach the valuable state. Similarly, one experiences in many ways the glories and values of the Divine Mother through the reading and understanding the Vedas and the tattvas, which will take much longer time.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 289: Shri Sruti simanta sinduri krta padabja dhulika (OM shrutisImantasindUrIkRRita pAdAbjadhUlikAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The dust on the soles of the Divine Mother’s feet is used as vermillion adoring the parting line of the hair of the Sruti Devatas (Veda identified as the Divine Mother).

Srutis are ladies. The sindura in their head hairlines is the dust from the Divine Mother.

Black is sattvic, reddish is rajasic, and whitish is tamasic attributes. These colours and gunas are within the Divine Mother. When there is a change of one attribute to another attribute, the nature takes effect.

For example: Black mixes with green colour to produce the green grass; the cow eats the grass, digests to get reddish blood; this blood turns into whitish milk given out by the cow.

Brahamanas are fully sattvic in nature. Rajasic and sattivic attributes combination is Kshtriyas. Rajasic and tamasic attributes combination is Vaisyas; and fully tamasic nature is Sudras. They are the four varnas. In people’s thinking, these four varnas differ. The Divine Mother’s creation of the humans is based on these four varnas.

Four asramas describe the human’s life stages; the matured Sannyasa is fit to merge with the Brahman. In the Divine Mother’s universe, these four varnas and four asramas are alive always. The Divine Mother is beyond anyone’s actions. Even then the Vedas try to describe Her. Vedas are treated as female and the sindura in their head hairlines is the dust from the Divine Mother’s lotus feet.

The Divine Mother’s head contains the Upanisads; the centre hairline contains Her lotus feet dust as Sindura. Kundalini sakti starts from Mualadhara in the human body; it goes through all the chakras in the body to reach the Sahasara exactly through the parting line in the head;  the Divine Mother’s lotus feet dust vermillion(Sindura) forms in the hair parting line giving divinity to the embodied soul.

Vedas and Tattvas cannot fully describe the Divine Mother and Her glory. Vedas says only “not like this or not like that” way but are far from reality in describing the Divine Mother. There is no great explanation of the Divine Mother in Karmakandam. In Jnanakandam, what is said about the Divine Mother is only a very little. Even that is to some extend can be considered as a decent explanation of the Divine Mother. Vedas are not doing a fulfilling job of describing the Divine Mother. Who else is qualified to do a complete description of the Divine Mother?

The dust from the Divine Mother’s lotus feet is sacred; it becomes the decoration on the forehead of the Vedas. The Divine Mother is the origin of the Vedas. The Vedas prostrate before their mother, here the Divine Mother. The dust from Her lotus feet smears on the head of these auspicious vedas. Thus the dust becomes holier.

Bhaskararaya’s interpretation is that the Vedas are incapable of describing the true form of the Divine Mother properly.

Sivastava says, “O Paramesvara, the scriptures which are the seat of the knowledge and are dear to You are unable to describe You adequately and fall silent like women are silent from bashfulness. If even they can describe You only by saying, “not this, not that” how can a mere mortal like myself describe You properly?”.

Bhaskararaya quotes again, now from Rudrayamala: “The place reached by Vedas is reached by the Tantras also. Hence, Brahmanas, Kshtriyas, Vaisyas and Sudras are fit to worship it” This makes it clear that all four varnas are fit to worship the Divine Mother through Tantras (due Her unison with lord Shiva in Brahman).

The Lotus flower  is compared to the Divine Mother feet.
