In Namams 64 to 84, we will be seeing the Divine Mother
destroying the Bhandasura.
The Divine Mother burned and destroyed with powerful Kamesvara
Astram Sunyaka, Bhandasura’s capital.
Although called the Capital, Sunyaka did not have much in it,
where as the Divine Mother’s Capital Srinagaram was complete. Bhandasura
thought that he and his Capital cannot be destroyed. Kamesavara Astram had the
power to do what the sender desired. Here the Divine Mother wanted Bhandasura and
his Capital be destroyed and that had been achieved.
Brahmanda Purana describes the incident as follows: Bhandasura
was very fierce, mighty and caused much harm to the world. The Divine Mother
using the Mahakamesvara astram which has thousand Suns’ strength killed the
demon Bhandasura and destroyed his Capital Sunyaka. The Astram burned his
Capital city and also instantly burned to ashes everyone and everything within.
As a result Sunyaka became sunya (empty).
On the question of destroying everyone and everything, should
there be any sympathy? When someone sleeps or dies, his family and wealth are
not with him. As a result there is no ownership even to anything to him. If
anyone understands and can accept this message, he would have the non attachment
needed for seeking salvation from the Divine Mother.
Close enough meanings:
Sunyaka is Bandasura’s Capital
Nirdagdhagha is burning and destroying
