In Namams 64 to 84, we will be seeing
the Divine Mother destroying the Bhandasura.
The Divine Mother is happy with
Goddess Varahi‘s heroic action to kill the demon Vishukra.
Goddess Varahi is also Goddess
Dandini is the Divine Mother’s army commander. She is called Varahi as she had
appeared in the past in the form of a boar (Varaha).
Vishukra came out of Bhanda’s right
shoulder. He is Bhanda’s army commander. He embraces sorrow or the one who
gives sorrow easily. The Sahasrara bound soul due to its ignorance does not
realize where the sorrow lies. Trapped in sorrow, this soul faces many
miseries. The soul has to transcend Sahasrara to be liberated.
Bhanda’s children Vishukra and Vishanga
push for worldly pleasures such as wealth, wife and children. Goddess Varahi
acts against Vishukra’s push to look for worldly pleasures in the Divine Mother’s
devotees and she destroys him. This makes the Divine Mother very happy on
Varahi’s actions.
