In Namams 64 to 84, we will be seeing the Divine Mother
destroying the Bhandasura.
The Divine Mother burned the armies of the demons using
Mahapasupata astram. Bhandsura’s armies were also burned in this process. In modern
times, we call the astram as a missile.
This Mahapasupata astram is from Pasupati (Lord Siva). This can
be in mantra form also representing the Knowledge. This burns away the
perceptions of duality in devotees’ minds. The demons’ armies are the mental
impurities arising from ignorance. The Divine Mother is embodiment of
Knowledge.
Pasupata astram which Arjuna got from Lord Siva can destroy the
whole world. Mahapasupata astram is many times stronger. Lord Siva is the
originator of this astram. The astram type and the originator Lord Siva may be
same what Arjuna and the Divine Mother had
used. It is in the mantara that was said before sending out that astram makes the
difference in strength. It is like programming the astram to do what we want.
Close enough meanings:
Mahapasupata is an irresistible and most destructive personal
weapon of Lord Siva
Sainika is army
