The Divine Mother is the spouse of Mrda (Lord Shiva).
Lord Shiva gives happiness to everyone. The beings go through three gunas; due to sattvic aspect, they go through enjoyment. So, Shiva is taking Sattvic guna in Mrda form to give happiness. Since the Divine Mother is doing the same action of giving happiness, She, is called Mrdani. Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother are one and the same. This is represented in this Namam. If the souls indulge in enjoyment, they move down in their status, but when the devotee feels that enjoyment is due to the Divine Mother, his status is raised.
Lord Shiva in saving form is also called Mrda. Mrda happiness giving is well known. The Divine Mother is not only the spouse of Mrda; but She is also the giver of happiness to everyone. Mrda is Shiva’s predominantly sattvic aspect.
Lord Shiva as Mrda the happiness giver to all,
same as the Divine Mother.
