Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 184: Shri Nistula (OM nistulAyai namaH)

In Namam 132 to 187, the Divine Mother’s Japarupam or Formlessness will be the described.

The Divine Mother is unequalled. She is not comparable to anything in this universe.

Tula is an instrument, a pair of scales, used to compare weights. We compare two similar things on their various aspects and determine as to which is better than the other. The good one we value more but the lower one we value less. We may praise the better one and denounce the lower item. The shinning diamond is considered as best in jewelry making. The diamond has its roots in black coal which had been compressed for long time while other jewelry stones have the origin in different earthly materials like stone. And yet diamond is considered as better material for jewelry making.

The Divine Mother is ultimate; She is so exalted. There is nothing similar or comparable or superior to Her. She is Brahman and Supreme Self. Tripuropanisad says that “She is without cause or comparison”.

In whatever way we look at her attributes She is the Ultimate and there is nothing close enough to Her. She provides for all the creatures in this universe. Yet she shines as Ultimate. There is nothing equal to Her.

In Visnu sahasranamam the equivalent namam is:”355 - Atulah which means incomparable."

Both are brother and sister and have common quality of incomparable ness.

When we consider someone is supreme in their qualities, it is same as saying "Incomparable".

So the Divine Mother is praised as Nistula, incomparable.
