Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 183: Shri Nisparigraha (OM niShparigrahAyai namaH)

In Namam 132 to 187, the Divine Mother’s Japarupam or Formlessness will be the described.

The Divine Mother does not get or acquire or accept anything from anyone; Her needs are eternally fulfilled.

Parigraha means the one who is to take or need to take from others for his own comfort t such as spouse, children, house, grain, wealth and other things. None of these affect the Divine Mother and apply to Her as She has all of Her needs fulfilled eternally.

Things may mean assets and wealth. In comparing Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother, the Lord Shiva does not have any wealth. However, His obedient servant Kubera is the storehouse of the universal wealth; and yet such wealth under His reach or command does not affect Lord Shiva. One of His living places is the dead body burning or burial grounds. He has ashes all over His body from burning of the dead people. He is also called Nisparigrahan. He does this to teach His devotees that such perishable wealth is not needed when the devotee attains the liberation or mukhti.

If the husband does not command wealth like Lord Shiva, the devotee’s wife will not find it acceptable to control her household. However, all universal wealth are within the Divine Mother’s controls. She does not have any pride in control of all the wealth.

The devotee who seeks salvation should leave all bonds in this world. He has to learn such non attachment from Lord Shiva. For Her devotees, the Divine Mother is the one to follow.

The Divine Mother is infinite. All Her wishes are fulfilled. She does not have any need to collect or amass things or wealth and to pass on. Then why such action less Divine Mother has temples, pujas, offerings of food and money? It is done for the pleasure and peace of mind of the devotees. For example, when our children do not have any need, we dress them up with diamonds and jewelry to show off our wealth. The children not even know the values of such things they have been put on.

The Divine Mother says that it is in our mind that we should offer our wealth to get purified. In current birth, the devotee’s strongest attachment is wealth. By offering his wealth and mind to Her, the devotee gets the benefit of being purified.

Parigraha is also root. The Divine Mother is root cause of every universal thing; She is without any root Herself. She provides all auspicious things to Her devotees.

She is nisparigraha.
