Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 746: Shri Bhagyabdhi chandrika (ōṃ bhāgyābdhicandrikāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is an ocean of good fortune.

In the ocean of Bhagyam or good fortune She shines like a moon.

Good fortune or misfortune do not last forever for humans; they come in cycles one after another. The ocean rises on full moon day and falls on new moon days. The ocean water level reaches maximum due to the full moon’s gravitational force. The earth gets brightness from the moon; if one gets the blessings of Divine Mother all good fortunes reach him, and all misfortunes are removed from him.

The coolness and sweetness in moonlight creates happiness in all universal creatures; the Divine Mother’s Grace and compassion is infinitely greater than the moon’s brightness.

All universal beings are aiming to get happiness in the world. But they must pay the price of sorrow to get happiness. With Divine Mother’s grace the devotees get this happiness easily; they move up in maturity. She gives all things desired by Her devotees.

Just as the full moon makes the tides rise in the ocean, the Divine Mother’s blessings bring waves of good fortune to Her devotees. Good and bad fortunes are normal in one’s life; all of us will have to withstand the waves of misfortune at some stage. For Divine Mother’s devotees even, illness turns into waves of good fortune because of Her grace which has the power to change the fate of Her devotees.

The Divine Mother is an ocean of good fortune.
