Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 787: Shri Tripuresi (ōṃ tripurēśyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is the Goddess of Tripura. The three cities under reference are the cities of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

In Sri Chakra the ninth chakra is Sarvasa-paripuraka chakra. This has sixteen lotus leaves and the presiding deity is Tripuresi Devi. This Chakra is a place for fulfilment of all desires for all beings.

The Divine Mother has the whole universe as Her place of residence and rule. Humans go through three phases, namely, waking stage (Jatrat), dream (swapna), and deep sleep (Sushupti) and they cannot rule over themselves. The fourth phase is of constant integrated awareness (Turiya). The Divine Mother is the Isvari for all these three and is beyond them.

This is also called Tripura Knowledge; It has three stages (learner, learning material and learned knowledge).

Tripura is Sarvasa-paripuraka chakra, one of the nine chakras in Sri Chakram. The Divine Mother is the presiding deity of that chakra. The Sri Chakra’s nine chakras are listed below:

1.     Trilokya-mohana

2.     Sarvasa-paripuraka

3.     Sarva-samkshobana

4.     Sarva-saubhagyadayaka

5.     Sarva-rthasadhaka

6.     Sarva-raksakara

7.     Sarva-rogahara

8.     Sarva-siddhiprada, and

9.     Sarva-anandamaya.

These names mean respectively, captivator of three worlds, fulfiller of all desires, agitator of all, giver of all prosperity, bestower of all of life’s goals, giver of all protection, remover of all ailments, giver of all siddhis and all-blissful.

The Divine Mother is the Goddess of Tripura.
