Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 982: Shri Yoni mudra (ōṃ yōnimudrāyai namaḥ)

The Divine Mother is in the form of Yoni mudra.

Whole universe, including all galaxies, originating from the Divine Mother. She is the Yoni or the birthplace for all of them. Using our hand fingers, mudras are formed to express key concepts. This Yoni mudra is the indicator of the origin or orientation of the universe. With hand fingers great concepts are explained like a simple two lines Thiru Kural in Tamil language, conveying great facts needed for the human life. In devotees’ kriya or action-based worship, these mudras take important places. If one can understand the divinity in Yoni mudra, he becomes eligible to worship the Divine Mother is the inner meaning of this Namam.

Yoni mudra is ninth in ten key mudras. This mudra indicates the origin of the universe; it indicates the Divine Mother’s bliss and happiness. It helps to worship the Divine Mother in Bindu as in Sri Chakra. It is appropriate to pray to Davis in each fort in Sri Chakra using their specified mudra and finally pray to the Divine Mother with Yoni mudra. To gain full benefits of Mantra Japa, the Yoni mudra helps to control prana (breath). The Divine Mother is in Yoni mudra form as well.

Earlier Namam 977 identified as Sarvayoni (the origin of all). This is considered an important mudra being the mudra of the Bindu, where the Divine Mother resides ruling the universe.

The Divine Mother is in the form of Yoni mudra.
