Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 205: Shri Sarva yantramika (OM sarvayantrAtmikAyai namaH)

In Namams 199 to 248, the Divine Mother’s  Saguna or infiniteness power and glory are described.

The Divine Mother is the essence of all the mantras.

Mantra is verbal form of Bija Akshram (non moving seed) or syllable which cannot be destroyed. Mantra can also be said as the divine combination of divine syllables or sounds which when chanted with devotion, faith and emotion gravitate to the relevant God/Goddess/Deity to secure their divine blessing.

When an individual chants a certain mantra related to a particular deity regularly, the gap between him and the said divine force steadily decreases.

The Divine Mother is in all mantra forms. All sounds are the Divine Mother’s rupam. Words rising from sounds have immense power to propel the soul to higher level.

The sound that purifies the devotee’s mind and thought can also be called mantra. Reciting any one mantra repeatedly purifies the mind totally. As She is all mantra forms, She is Sarva mantra svarupini.

There are seven crores (one crore is equal to 10 million) mantras as acknowledged in ancient Hindu wisdom and documents relating to worshipping. Each mantra was revealed to a sage (like Agastya), relating to a specific deity. Before reciting a mantra, it is customary to remember the respective sage (Guru). Mantra on meditating upon a deity has the power to lead to liberation of the soul.

For example, Meditation can be done in many ways:

1.       Meditating as if they were Lord Siva’s body hairs is Bhuvana meditation method.

2.       Meditating on fifty letters (varnas) seeing them on the skin of Lord Siva is Varna method.

3.       There are seven crores (one crore is equal to 10 million) of mantras arising from the Vedas, seeing them as Lord Siva’s blood is mantra method.

4.       On mantra words as Lord Siva’s flesh and blood vessels is pada (word) method.

5.       Meditating on 36 tattvas starting from earth as Lord Siva’s fibrous tissue, bones and marrow is the tattva method.

Srividya Panchadashi (15-syllabled mantra) is key mantra recited by Goddess worshippers according to Sundaritapaniya Upanisad. Srividya mantra has over the years proved to be a wonderful key to success in the lives of hundreds of great sage and yogins.

It said that this mantra came directly from Lord Shiva. Srividya mantra gives mental uprightness. If properly used, Srividya mantra can activate all the inner bodies and also the six chakras the kundalini uses.

To worship the Divine Mother through mantras is good way to seek Her blessings (We will see later the Namam 991 “OM ShaDadhvAtItarUpiNyai namaH” which means that the Divine Mother’s form transcends the six paths).

As She is in all mantra forms, She is Sarva mantra svarupini.
