Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 45: Shri Pada Dvaya Parabha Jala Parkrta Saroruha (OM padadvayaprabhAjAlaparAkRRitasaroruhAyai namaH)

The Divine Mother’s feet have radiance, softness, beautiful, purity and fragrance unmatched to any other thing in this universe.

However HER feet are compared to lake growing Lotus flowers. Lotus in no way can match above qualities of the Divine mother’s feet.

Bees with their varying hum are attracted to the Lotus. Lotus has limited sphere of attraction. Also the freshness of Lotus dies down every day.

The Divine Mother’s feet attract many gifted scholars and poets. The Divine Mother’s beauty and fragrance spread across all times and across universal space. It has permanency unlike Lotus flowers dyeing in short time periods.

The Lotus flower cannot match the Divine Mother’s feet in any of these qualities.

The namam is phrased in such a way that the Lotus flower accepts defeat that it cannot match the Divine Mother’s feet qualities and it runs away unable to face the shame.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 44: Shri Nakha Didhiti Sanchanna Namajjana Tamo Guna (OM nakhadIdhitisa ~ nChannanamajjanatamoguNAyai namaH)

The Divine Mother’s toenails’ radiance or illuminating splendor eliminates completely the ignorance and darkness from HER devotees who surrender (prostrate) at HER feet.

HER feet are not visible to normal humans. Ancient scholars had commented that Bramha and Vishnu were indirectly referred as devotees here in seeking more knowledge and power from the Divine Mother.

HER toenails are spreading light in the ground under HER feet. When a devotee touches HER feet, the light from HER toenails reaches the devotee’s head. This process takes away the devotee’s ignorance. Thus the Divine Mother does not need any special means or efforts to eliminate the devotee’s darkness/ignorance. The darkness cannot stand HER toenail’s power or light.

Essentially, touching HER feet takes away all the impurities from the mind of an exhaled devotee. Such instances are quoted well in the Mastsya Purana and the Padma purana which are part of eighteen major ancient puranas in Hindusim. The Padma purana is named after lotus. This is a form of mediation on Lord Krishna (Mahavishnu).

In summary, this namam means that the Divine Mother removes the ignorance of the devotees who surrender at HER feet. Her feet defeats the beauty of a Lotus.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 43: Shri Kurma Prstha Jayisnu Prapadanvista (OM kUrma pRRiShThajayiShNuprapadAnvitAyai namaH)

The Divine Mother’s smoother and beautiful arches in her feet are much better than the tortoise back is very strong and even during Amirtha                     mathana Mahavishnu took Koorma avathara in that form. Tortoise took the form to support the Meru mountain on its back so that Meru not to sink. Her feet are so strong to bear the weight of her body.

This comparison is not at respectable level to consider the Divine Mother’s beauty with that of a Tortoise. Even otherwise, this comparison may be appropriate here to bring out the smoothness and beauty of the Divine Mother’s arches in HER feet.

Laksanasastra (Figure analyzing and predicting method) indicates that a person with high feet arches will be beautiful.

Overall, the Divine Mother has smoother and beautiful arches in HER feet. They are adding value to HER immense beautiful figure.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 39: Shri Kamesa Jnata Saubhagya Mardavoru Dvayanvita (OM kAmeshaj ~ nAtasaubhAgyamArdavorudvayAnvitAyai namaH)

The Divine Mother has softer and beautiful thighs. Only HER husband Lord Kameswaran can understand, know and appreciate them. Even Lord Kameswaran cannot describe such beauty of the Divine Mother’s thighs.

In earlier namam, we had seen that Lord Kameswaran had completely destroyed (vanquished) Kaman, the Lord of desire and love. Lord Kameswaran is completely desire less. This namam’s meaning can be interpreted as the one who had no desire or Kamam at all can only see the inner secret of the Divine Mother.

This can lead to the view that the Divine Mother, as in Arthanareeswarar, shares the other half of Lord Kameswaran (Siva).

This namam can also imply that any learned sage’s secret spiritual exposure or experience will be like a bee getting the nectar in the blossom with never ending bliss (supreme happiness).

Overall, this namam brings out the intimacy between the Divine Mother and Lord Kameswaran.

Arthanareeswarar: A deity showing the combined figure of Lord Kameswaran and the Divine Mother. This shows both of them are one. There are slogams or archana for this deity, sharing 50:50 in the verge for prayers to Lord Kameswaran and the Divine mother.

The Divine Mother is wearing a girdle over HER garment. Gem studded gold bells beautify this girdle.

This ornament or girdle which has the golden bells make a cool sweet noise or a clear ringing sound (tinkle) when the Divine Mother moves or walks.
