The Divine Mother is in the form of alphabet and colours.
Varnam means achara or letter or alphabet. In any language, each achara has a specific sound, all such sounds become Omkara or Nada Brahmam, which is the root base of the universe. Nature’s forms all belong to the Divine Mother.
Varnam can also mean the colour and the sect or society. Sun’s rays have seven colours, which are in many levels. Colours we see in nature all represent the glories of the Divine Mother.
Various maturities of universal being are also known as varnam. Based on their skills used, the mankind is in four varnas namely Brahmin, Chaitria, Vaishya, and Sutra. The lowest society is sutra, and they ultimately graduate to Brahmin. Brahman is beyond all these varnas. So, the universal beings, societies, graduations, improvements are all the Divine Mother’s forms; She is Varna Rupini.
Varnam as alphabet A to Hi have sound effect; As colour is also Varman, the Divine Mother is both sound and colour forms.
We have fifty-one letters in Sanskrit, but there are supposedly sixty-four letters in Prakrit and Sanskrit languages together, as promulgated by Svayambhu or Shiva Himself.
Varna has many other meanings. The four castes (chatur varna), different colours and graceful shape are all to be viewed as Divine Mother’s own manifestations. Seeing unity in this diversity is the life goal for universal beings.
