Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 131: Shri Santimati (OM shAntimatyai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

The Divine Mother by nature is peaceful.

She forgives all the faults of Her devotees. She does not have any grudge  or agitation. She has plenty of kindness which She gives out lavishly.

Her aim is peace and welfare of creatures in the universe. She will not allow anything against Her aim or wish. This may be the reason that She destroyed Bhandasura to save the celestial beings from his actions against them.

Having mental agitation is human nature. There is peace or Santhi when these agitations are at a low in human.  In any religious Hindu rites, Om Santhi is repeated thrice, for the blessing of threefold peace; peace at physical, mental and spiritual levels.

A mother is calm and takes care of the child whenever her child makes mistakes. In the same manner, the Divine Mother shows the kindness to Her devotees, bestowing peace on them.

She is Santimati needing only peace and is not eager for anything else.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 130: Shri Satodari (OM shAtodaryai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

Satadara can be defined as having hundreds of caves. It also means Himavat or Himalaya, the King of mountains.

Sada means hundred.
Daran means caves
Satadaran is owner of many caves in a mountain
Satodari is Himavat’s daughter, Goddess Parvathi.

Odarm is stomach. In effect, the whole universe with many caves within, contained within The Divine Mother and controlled by Her.

Another meaning is that many caves will give a slender appearance to the mountain. In a similar sense the Divine Mother’s  beauty is personified. Slender beauty is enhanced by the Divine Mother.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 129: Shri Saraccandra Nibhanana (OM sharachchandranibhAnanAyai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

Like in a clear autumn sky, the Divine Mother’s face shines just as the full moon.

Autumn moon is chosen because, after the sharad  chandra meaning Moon in sharad rithu, which is rainy  season, it reflects a brilliant radiance in the clear blue sky. In other seasons, the moon’s radiance is weak and or changing.

However, the Divine Mother’s radiance is much superior and it does not change with time.

Nibhanana is beautiful like the full moon or supreme bliss.

Anana is face

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 128: Shri Sadhvi (OM sAdhvyai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

The Divine Mother is so honest and devoted to Lord Siva. She has a high chastity virtue.

Sad refers to goodness; it means very whole sum and kindness in a person.

This Namam can be interpreted to mean that the Divine Mother is whole sum and she is very kind to Her devotees.

Only Siva knows Her secrets, as we have earlier seen in Namam 39 “Kamesa Jnata Saubayva Mardavorua Dvayanvita”.

Sarasvati, Brahma’s consort goes to all learned scholars in the form Vidya, Knowledge.

Goddess Mahalakshmi, Visnu’s consort is always on the move and accessible to all.

But the Divine Mother is so attached in Her unison only with Lord Siva and yields to no one. She is high in Her virtue. She is Parasakti and is also absolutely free from other desires.

The idea is; that the learning and wealth can be got by anyone with certain effort but the salvation or unison with the Supreme Self is extremely difficult without the Divine Mother’s blessings.

For example in Maths, if the number zero is Siva form, the one is the Divine Mother form. Only when one is prefixed to zero, o gets value and then we get ten. Likewise only with unison with the Lord Siva, the Divine Mother gets Her respect and in turn Lord Siva gets His respect too.

Similarly Sun rays splits into seven colours. The fire gives out heat. The Sun gives out light. Being in unison with Lord Siva only, the Divine Mother’s glories come out. Due to all these, She becomes Sadhvi.

There is greatness in the Divine Mother’s chastity. She is always with Lord Siva. For any other female in different births, she would have had different husbands. There is no guarantee that the same husband would have been there in every birth for this female person. So for a normal girl, her chastity is applicable for current birth only. The Divine Mother in many forms has only Lord Siva as Her husband and Her chastity is unique in that sense.

We will discuss Sadhvi further in Namam 138 later.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 127: Shri Srikari (OM shrIkaryai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

The Divine Mother confers or grants plentiful riches to Her devotees.

If something meets one’s needs, it is called wealth. Beyond that it is called Sri or abundance or plentiful.

In modern times for a common man it will be difficult to make a million. But beyond that million, it is plentiful and it may come easily. There is a Tamil language saying that making the first 100 is difficult but it will become free flow from a well once that first 100 is made. This is a perception from monetary point of view.

Visnu is Srikara or husband of Goddess Mahalakshmi or Sri Mahalakshmi. Sri Mahalakshmi is supposedly lives in Sri Mahavisnu’s chest.

There are eight kinds of Lakshmi or Asthalakshmi to give out eight types of wealth to mankind. These Eight Types of Wealth  as children by Asthalakshmi are:

·         ADILAKSHMI:(Wealth as children of the source) .
·         DHANALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of material comfort) .
·         VIDYALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of Skill) .
·         DHAANYALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of Food/Health) .
·         DHAIRYALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of Courage) .
·         SANTAANALAKSHMI: (Bestower of Children) .
·         VIJAYALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of Success) .
·         BHAAGYALAKSHMI: (Wealth as children of Dignity)

Goddess Lakshmi gets Her wealth and instructions from the Divine Mother. She also serves the Divine Mother as seen in Srividya Bindu. The Divine Mother creates and gives out wealth to Goddess Lakshmi and to whole universe.

The Divine Mother is also Srikari being Visnu’s sister.

Sri has many meanings: wealth, auspicious, beauty, strength and light. Where ever the Divine Mother’s blessings are there, all above are available to Her devotees.

So the Divine Mother is Srikari.

                                                        Asthalakshmi

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 126: Shri Sankari (OM shA ~ Nkaryai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

She is Sankari (spouse of Sankara) who has the habit of giving out happiness to Her devotees.

Sankara always does good things. He also gives out good things in life to the devotees.

According to Kalika Purana, the Divine Mother is best known and celebrated by the names Sankari and Raudri. She accompanies Lord Siva in unison. She is in female form and Sankara is in male form doing the creation, preservation and destruction functions in this universe.

Troubles keep coming back to the devotees. From the point of a short term view, it will look like troubles but in reality, it will turn out to be blessings to the devotee. All these things are the Divine Mother’s design of things to ultimately give happiness to the devotees.

Sam is auspicious and represents happiness. Sankara gives happiness. The Divine Mother as the consort of Sankara gives away  all auspicious and happiness, as the Lord Sankara Himself.

Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 125: Shri Sarmadayini (OM sharmadAyinyai namaH)

From Namam 112 to 131, we will see the devotion aspects in the Divine Mother worship

The Divine Mother grants happiness for the devotee whose actions are in right ways to earn a living.

Devi Bhagavata calls the Divine Mother the “Bestower of Happiness” as She gives happiness to all Her devotees.

Happiness means the devotee’s material happiness in this birth and also beyond this life. Earlier we have seen that the Divine Mother is generous to give both material happiness and salvation to Her devotees.

Sarmam is happiness. Without material happiness in this birth, the devotee will not have any desire in his present life. The Divine Mother has the habit of giving out happiness to Her devotees, She never stops on that.
