Shri Lalitha Sahasranamam: Namam 349: Shri Vandaru jana vatsala (OM vandArujanavatsalAyai namaH)

In Namams 275 to365, the Divine Mother’s  many forms providing benefits to Her devotees in great details are discussed.

The Divine Mother is full of motherly love for those who worship Her.

Vats means child; Vatsla means parental love. Vatsala can be also Vaatsalya.

It is possible for universal beings to worship the Divine Mother. The devotee who worships Her regularly and makes it his habit, is called the Vandaru. For those at lower end of maturity, worshipping the Divine Mother always is a way to reach the Brahman. Some devotees will have immense devotion towards the Divine Mother; She likes such embodied souls. This is similar to the affection; the cow has for its new born calf in feeding and helping it to grow up. The Divine Mother likes and shows Her affection to the devotees (Vandaru) with great devotion surrender to Her. Her motherly love is worthy of great worship at all times.

Her devotees get Her blessings always. The human who can appreciate and praise the natural happenings in this universe, become Her favourite children. Those who use their Jada shakti (will power and strength) and chit shakti (mind and knowledge) are also favoured by Her. If some use the electricity properly, it gives various useful effects but any one misusing it may even have immediate death through electric shock. Likewise the mind, knowledge, prana and will power are to be used correctly in worshipping the Divine Mother to get Her motherly love and affection. She favours such devotion from humans; She takes the rightful responsibility to save such humans.

The Divine Mother as Annapoorani.
