Raghu the imaginary Planet considered in Hindu Astrolgy.

Raghu and Kethu are imaginary points rotating in anti-clockwise direction. They usually take 18 years to complete 360 degrees, one full cycle, meaning one and half years to pass through one Rasi in astro chart. The story is that they have origin in parkadal when the Devas were trying to get Amirtham or nectar/bliss. Head and tail respectively of a snake.

Since the energy focused on the points are much greater than normal planets, these two imaginary planets can cause more good or damage to the chart holder. 

Raghu causes different effects in each rasi from Moon and Lagnam. Rasis 3, 6 and 11 are ideal rasis for Raghu to give beneficial effects to the chart holder. In other rasi positions, depending on the nature of the rsai lord, associations and aspects on Raghu by a major planet such as Saturn or Mars, unwanted results will happen. 

Raghu desa running during  marriage able age, say 18 to 36 years for a male will delay the marriage until after Raghu desa is finally over. Any amount of parighram will not be fruitful during such periods.

The root deity controlling the Raghu's actions, can be Durgha Devi and praying to Her will kind of reduce the negative effects of Raghu's desa.  For all planets Lord Shiva is the Ultimate controller; and praying to him will definitely help the chart holder.

Raghu in twelfth house and Raghu's desa running will see the chart holder becoming a lavish spender in night activities with opposite sex etc for about 18 years.

There are more negative thinking about Raghu's desa something similar to Saturn's condition.

But there a lots of plus points with Raghu desa. 

Raghu in third house will give unusually high confidence to move forward in life.

Raghu in six house is called lakshmi yogam, the monetary gains will be much better or at least equal to Venus desa.

Raghu in eleventh house will get more easy money flow, especially through elder brothers or sisters or elders. This is one of the best results for Raghu.

Finally I want to talk about Raghu in tenth house, which is called Saitta Raghu  which means, what ever the chart holder decides and does will be the rule to be followed by others. If this tenth house is Simham or the Raghu is associated with Sun, he will be a good  and influential administer higher up, (may be even a PM of the country) in Government systems. This concept I learnt from a good nagarthar(chettiar) some 35 years back when I came to know about the publisher of the famous Tamil Konar notes for schools. He was running this Saitta Raghu and I accidentally asked him a few other questions on his astro chart and this concept of Saitta Raghu was explained to me by him. He was running that specific Raghu's desa by then!. 

I can say that he built up Palaniappa Brothers the famous Konar notes publisher had office in Trichy  and other places in Tamilnadu, India in 1960s.
